PolarRide Inc. ("PolarRide," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and services (the "Platform").

1.1 Information You Provide

Account Information: Full name, email address, phone number, password (encrypted), date of birth, profile photo

Identity Verification: Government-issued ID, driver's license, selfie photos, ID document photos

Payment Information: Credit/debit card details, bank account information, transaction history

Vehicle Information: Vehicle registration documents, insurance certificates, inspection reports, vehicle photos, ownership documentation

Booking Information: Rental dates and times, vehicle preferences, special requests, driver hire requests

Communication: Customer support messages, in-app messages, reviews and ratings, feedback and survey responses

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

Device Information: Device type and model, operating system, unique device identifiers, mobile network information, IP address

Location Information: Precise GPS location (when app is in use), approximate location, location history during active rentals

Usage Information: Pages and features accessed, time spent on Platform, search queries, booking history, click patterns

3. How We Share Your Information

3.1 With Other Users

Renters can see owner's name, photo, rating, and vehicle location. Owners can see renter's name, photo, rating, and verification status. After booking, both parties can see contact information.

3.2 With Service Providers

We share information with trusted third parties including payment processors (Paystack, Flutterwave), identity verification services, cloud storage providers, customer support platforms, and analytics providers.

3.3 For Legal Reasons

We may disclose information when required by law to comply with legal obligations, protect rights and safety, detect fraud, or respond to law enforcement requests.

4. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as necessary to provide services and comply with legal obligations:

  • Active account data: While your account is active
  • Closed account data: 7 years (for legal and accounting purposes)
  • Transaction records: 7 years
  • Support communications: 3 years

5. Your Rights and Choices

  • Access and Correction: Access and update information through account settings
  • Data Deletion: Request deletion via Settings → Delete Account or email privacy@polarride.com
  • Marketing Opt-Out: Unsubscribe from emails or adjust notification settings
  • Location Data: Control location permissions through device settings
  • Data Portability: Request a copy of your data in portable format

7. Children's Privacy

PolarRide is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If we discover we have collected information from a child, we will delete it immediately.

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than Nigeria. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers through standard contractual clauses and adequacy decisions.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email, in-app notification, or Platform notice. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
